Accept JCB payments with Checky Pro
The card Japanese customers carry when they buy abroad. One switch in your checkout, and the orders you were quietly losing arrive instead.
New here? Checky Pro is the payments & checkout platform for modern e-commerce — JCB is one of the 21 payment methods you can switch on today.
What is JCB?
JCB — Japan Credit Bureau — is Japan’s own card network, and the only international scheme that started outside the United States or Europe. At home it is what Visa is to Europe: the default card in most wallets. Outside Japan it travels with its cardholders, which is where it matters for a European or American store.
A JCB card works like any other card in your checkout: the customer types a number, the payment is authorised, the money settles. The difference is on the acceptance side — JCB is not automatically included when a provider says "we accept cards", and a shopper whose card is refused at the last step rarely comes back to try another one.
That makes JCB a small, specific decision rather than a big one. If you ship to Japan, or sell anything travellers buy — fashion, collectibles, electronics, tickets — it is the difference between an order and an abandoned basket. If your customers are entirely domestic European, it will sit quietly in the background and cost you nothing to leave on.

Why JCB, and why through Checky Pro
The top row is the method itself; the bottom row is what our platform adds on top of it.
The card Japanese shoppers travel with
JCB is the domestic default in Japan and goes abroad in the same wallet. If you sell to Japanese customers at all, some of them are carrying one.
Orders you never saw
A card that is not accepted does not show up as a failed payment — it shows up as nothing. Switching JCB on is how those baskets become orders.
Nothing to lose by leaving it on
There is no monthly cost for having a method enabled. JCB only charges you when a JCB payment actually succeeds.
Routed to an acquirer that carries it
Not every acquiring partner supports JCB. Multiple partners sit behind your checkout, so the payment goes to one that does.
Priced on the public rate card
JCB is charged as an international card — the same published number as any other non-EEA card, with no scheme-specific surprise.
Disputes handled early
Issuers often warn us before a chargeback is filed. Refund inside that window and it never becomes a dispute.
How a JCB payment works
From click to balance — what your customer sees, and what happens behind it.
- 1
Customer pays
A JCB card goes into the same fields as any other card — nothing extra for the shopper to learn.
- 2
Bank verifies
J/Secure runs when the issuer asks for it, in the customer’s own banking app.
- 3
Authorised in seconds
The payment takes the acquiring route that carries JCB. If one route declines, the next one tries.
- 4
Settled to your balance
Added to your Checky Pro balance and paid out in 3–7 business days.

What does accepting JCB cost?
JCB is priced as an international card: 2,95% + € 0,25 plus the 1,75% international surcharge, so 4,7% + € 0,25 for EU companies. The UK, US and Hong Kong prices are on the pricing page.
Do I need a separate contract with JCB?
No. JCB runs through the same acquiring setup as your other card payments — you switch the method on in the dashboard and it is live.
Is it worth enabling if I do not sell to Japan?
Probably, because it costs nothing to leave on. JCB cardholders travel and buy from European and American stores; if none of them ever reach your checkout, the method simply stays idle.
When do I receive the money?
JCB payments settle into your Checky Pro balance in 3–7 business days and pay out on your regular payout schedule.
